South Florence High School's New Strength & Conditioning Center
For South Florence High School, the timing for a brand-new strength and conditioning facility couldn’t have been better.
In a year that was anything but predictable, the athletic department at South Florence decided to create a positive change for their students and athletes. Initiated by a superintendent who wanted to go above and beyond to support athletics in the South Florence School District, this project took a well-worn training facility and turned it into a Strength Coach’s dream.
Cody Slaughter, the Athletic Director at South Florence High School, said the purpose behind the investment was that they “wanted to offer [their athletes] the best training facility and the best opportunities for growth and development.” After seeing what the Advantage team had done for a nearby high school, South Florence tapped Pete Rogers, our local Sales Manager, to bring their vision to life.

According to Slaughter, “Pete was very knowledgeable. He came in and listened to what we wanted, he gave his input and helped us walk through designing the room to maximize the stations and number of athletes we could have working out at any given time. We chose to work with Advantage because they are a one stop shop – they provided flooring, equipment, installation and coordination for everything from start to finish. It was a very simple process for us, and it was a very, very fun project to work on.”
Having recently undergone a complete rebranding, the school chose to proudly display the Bruins’ new “blue bear” logo on each lifting platform and use their iconic blue on equipment throughout the space.
And the facility opened at just the right time: the day after their 2020 football season came to a close. Since that point, the reaction from students and staff has been one of overwhelming positivity, and Slaughter couldn’t be happier. “The kids are already in there working hard and loving every piece of equipment,” he said. “Our strength coach is in heaven.“
