Designing for Daily Wellness: Inside GeerHouse’s Standout Fitness Amenity

Durham, NC

The Right Foundation

When the team at Four Points Development broke ground on GeerHouse Apartments, they knew a signature fitness amenity would be key to setting the property apart. High-end communities in Durham, NC, and beyond are redefining what it means to live well—and this project embodies that vision with design precision.

The amenities at GeerHouse are thoughtfully integrated into the building’s design, making them approachable, natural, and easy to enjoy. This intentional flow fosters a quiet sense of connection and ease, while a consistent, welcoming aesthetic creates comfort and cohesion between apartments and shared areas. Together, these features establish an environment where every detail feels considered and inviting—setting the stage for a wellness experience that seamlessly fits into residents’ daily lives.

Behind the GeerHouse Apartments project

Natural Alignment

Like many projects we partner on, this opportunity grew from the impact of our past work and strong local relationships. Four Points came to us through a recommendation from a previous client who was familiar with our presence in the area. When that trust met our proven process and quality offering, the stars aligned.

Our local work helped build early confidence with Four Points, but it was a shared passion for the project, and a belief in what a strong local offering could be, that brought the partnership to life.

Driven by Insight

When working with Advantage, Four Points leaned on Territory Sales Manager Teresa Boland for guidance—trusting her insight into which training styles and equipment perform best in the multifamily market. Teresa’s local knowledge and understanding of industry trends proved invaluable during the planning process.

The same thoughtful approach evident throughout GeerHouse extends into the fitness center. Designed as a natural extension of the building’s style and flow, the space invites residents in with calming views, cohesive design elements, and a seamless connection to surrounding amenities—creating an intentional wellness experience that feels accessible.

The team prioritized smart use of space while accommodating a full lineup of high-performance machines, including strength, cardio, and functional accessories.

GeerHouse Apartment patio

Open Air, Open Energy

In addition to an equipment selection that meets every expectation, the space is bright, airy, and laid out to maximize every square foot. Neutral tones add a sense of openness and help draw the eye to the views—bringing the outdoors in and giving the entire fitness facility an elevated, expansive feel.

The building features a beautiful waterfall in the courtyard—a subtle yet striking design element, and it is visible through the windows in front of the Peloton bikes, reinforcing the property’s cohesive and calming aesthetic and the tranquil vibe the yoga room can bring.

Through collaboration with Teresa and the Advantage team, Four Points saw every detail click into place—delivering a space that lives up to the vision.

Designed to Perform

The equipment selection at GeerHouse is rooted in innovative favorites and complemented by distinctive pieces. High-end classics like Precor treadmills and ellipticals are paired with standout machines like the human-powered, low-impact Assault AirRunner. This offers exercisers dynamic options that enhance and energize their training experience.

The Precor Smith Machine anchors the strength area with polished performance. Its sleek design and guided movement offer a premium feel that supports lifters of all levels.

The layout cleverly accommodates two distinct zones: one featuring the Smith Machine and cardio equipment for a vibrant, community-focused energy, and a slightly more secluded space designed for yoga and functional training. This quieter room houses the Peloton bikes along with some functional accessories.

Pulse Check

This project is a demonstration of how expertise transforms a developer’s clear design and aesthetic intent into a vibrant reality. Through strategic insight and expert execution, our partnership resulted in a fitness space that goes beyond the ordinary. It stands out and will remain relevant for years to come thanks to its quality layout and premium equipment—creating a lasting impact and inspiring genuine connection.

Residents are loving the upscale facility, applauding the variety of state-of-the-art machines that support impactful workouts. The yoga studio—and especially the Peloton bikes—has quickly become a versatile favorite among users.

GeerHouse Apartment

"Advantage Fitness was a true partner"

“Advantage Fitness was a true partner looking out for ownership at every stage of the project. What may be their best attribute is their attention to detail. They used their expertise to benchmark the market, make a great selection of equipment, and provide a functional layout. Their Regional Sales Manager was at the job site confirming power and data outlet locations months before the installation, ensuring no detail was missed. This level of commitment to a relatively small project shows that success, no matter the size, is important to Advantage. This type of ethic and trust is the foundation for a long-term relationship.”
