Setting the Foundation for Strength
Designing a high-performance weight room requires more than just great equipment—it demands expertise in layout, flow, and athlete needs. At Thomas County Central High School, home to multiple regional and state championships, those standards are especially high. That’s why the school partnered with Advantage Sport & Fitness to create a fully optimized training environment. From concept to completion, the goal was clear: build a space that maximizes efficiency, supports team training, and delivers long-term durability.
The Challenge: More Than Just a Weight Room
Creating a functional weight room isn’t just about filling a space—it’s about making every square foot work.
Key priorities included:
Designing for large group training
Maximizing space and efficiency
Ensuring seamless flow throughout the room
Selecting equipment that is both high-quality and built for heavy use
Justin Rogers, Head Football Coach at Thomas County Central noted, “I don’t think a lot of people understand how hard it is to design a functional weight room. It was important for us to use Advantage Sport & Fitness. They were a supplier of the racks that we wanted and the brands that we wanted. Nic Obey [ASF Regional Sales Manager] has been just awesome the whole way.”
The Solution
One of the biggest challenges in building a high-performing weight room is making the most of the space available. For the coaching staff, efficiency wasn’t just a goal—it was a necessity.
The design process started with a simple but critical question: How many athletes would be training in the room at one time?
From there, every decision was made to ensure the space could handle high volumes without sacrificing flow or functionality.
Strategic Design & Layout
The room is organized to maximize every square foot
Equipment placement supports smooth athlete flow and rotation
The layout allows for large groups to train simultaneously without congestion
Facility Highlights
Power Lift Pro Series combo racks (double-sided for maximum usage)
10 total combo pulley systems (high/low pulleys, lat pulldown, low row)
60 pairs of dumbbells supporting 20 training stations
"Our biggest thing is efficiency, to be able to do what we want to do. I've known Nic for probably about 10 years now at Advantage. Having been a college training coach, he knew the ins and outs of being able to design a full room, being able to organize it so that it's efficient. Everything that he did was just first class, it's quality, heavy duty, and so it's functional for use."

Raising the Standard
The completed weight room has transformed the way athletes train. With improved flow, increased capacity, and high-performance equipment, the space now supports both individual development and full-team workouts at a much higher level. Athletes benefit from a more efficient training environment, while coaches gain a space that allows them to run structured, effective sessions.
Results That Speak for Themselves
The completed weight room has transformed the way athletes train. Finalized mid-football season, the new space added even more momentum to the team’s winning streak.
